Pillar 4: Research, Knowledge Exchange & Global Collaboration

Learning Across Landscapes and Borders

The challenges facing our future are complex.

No single organisation, sector or discipline holds all the answers.

AotearoaNZ2125 brings together a growing ecosystem of researchers, universities, practitioners, innovators, indigenous knowledge holders and international collaborators to explore new pathways for resilience.

We believe the future requires: rigorous research, shared learning and bold collaboration.

Inspired by international initiatives such as the Dutch NL2120 model, we are exploring opportunities to connect Aotearoa with global leaders in:

  • nature-based solutions
  • climate adaptation
  • systems thinking
  • regenerative agriculture
  • ecological economics
  • indigenous and community-led resilience

At the same time, Aotearoa holds deep wisdom to contribute to the world — particularly through mātauranga Māori, co-governance approaches and community-led environmental leadership.

This is not knowledge flowing in one direction.

It is mutual exchange.

Together, we are exploring what becomes possible when local wisdom meets global learning.

  • International knowledge exchange
  • Research partnerships
  • NZ–EU collaboration
  • Nature-based solutions research
  • Systems thinking and futures design
  • Mātauranga Māori and interdisciplinary approaches
